Summer Camp Is Finally Here!

There's No Better Place To Be A Scout Than Montana

It seems we have finally found some warm weather, and with it, Summer Camp season is upon us! This is a special time of the year for our Scouts.

As Baden Powell said, “A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.” I believe that is very true. But summer camp is so much more than a teaching tool as well.

This past week, I traveled to K-M Scout Ranch, Camp Melita Island, and Grizzly Base. I am proud to report that all properties are in excellent shape. We were definitely ready to receive our first batch of Scouts that arrived this past Sunday.

John, Grace, Tanner, and Nick have a great summer lined up at K-M. While those facilities are second to none, the staff is prepared to add the special touches that only a good summer camp staff can. A special thanks to the entire staff at K-M.

Terry, Ashley, Julie, and Duane have Melita lsland looking as good as I have ever seen it. The staff is well-seasoned and ready to have an unforgettable summer of Scouts and leaders at Melita. Thanks to the entire staff and crew at Melita Island.

We have been receiving a steady stream of positive comments for our Montana Outdoor High Adventure Base (MOHAB) operation in concert with the Boone and Crockett Club. A shout out to Luke and the camp leaders at MOHAB – truly a next-level experience.

I also want to compliment Larry and Jim at Grizzly Base. While we aren’t running a summer camp operation, they are hosting Scouts from throughout the country on special outings in Montana. Jacksonville, Florida will have a unit there soon that will be exploring the Flathead and Glacier National Park.

These operations are massive undertakings, but truly put a cap on the ultimate Scouting Experience. If you have not been or would like to visit, please let us know.

Have a great summer and thanks for all you do to support the Montana Council!

Yours in Scouting,

Jory Dellinger
