Happy April.
As I write this on Sunday afternoon, I am looking outside and, although a bit early, it is nice to see the sun and green things starting to happen.
April is always an exciting time in Scouting – Spring Camporees, Day Camp Planning, Summer Camp Planning and our Annual Convention.
If you have never been to this celebration, or if it has been a while, I encourage you to sign up. Convention is a great way to connect with other Scouters and see the true picture of all that is happening in our council. More importantly, it is our opportunity to recognize outstanding volunteers, donors and friends of Scouting.
This year’s agenda proves to be one of the best yet with our Annual Scouter Appreciation Night, themed Pirates of the Caribbean, and an incredible lineup of seminars and training.
We will have an onsite trading post and awards throughout the day, culminating with the induction of a new class of Silver Beaver recipients. There truly is something for everyone, and if you are anything like me, you will relish the opportunity to gather with friends and like-minded individuals.
A full listing of Convention information is available is here. So whether you are new to Scouting or have been around for decades, come and be part of our Annual Convention – you won’t be disappointed.
The other cannot miss event of the year is our International Scout Expo in Great Falls on June 16-19. This will truly be a one-of-a-kind Scouting event and – as of this newsletter – nearly 900 are signed up.
Expo will be the largest Montana Council event in recent history and will offer a unique look at the history and characters of the Great Falls area. Even if you have a good understanding of Montana History, this will take it several steps further. The closing show on Saturday is gearing up to be an incredible celebration for our youth and our council. I certainly hope to see you all in Great Falls.
Lastly – Thank You.
Scouting has been weathering a tremendous storm over the past two years, and there looks to be light at the end of the tunnel, and while things are certainly going to look different, one thing remains the same – Scouting builds great youth and turns them into great leaders. It is your undeniable passion, commitment and attitude that makes all of that possible. Know that from the bottom of our hearts – we appreciate all you do.
Have a great Spring and I look forward to seeing you at Convention and the International Scout Expo!
Yours in Scouting,
Jory Dellinger
Deputy Scout Executive
