Montana Council Receives National Recognition

Dear Scouting Friends,

Congratulations, one and all!

Montana Council has just received a Gold Council designation for the 2015 Journey to Excellence program. This is the highest rating awarded by the National Council for local council operations!

We were evaluated by 17 separate measurements in 5 categories: Leadership, Program, Unit Service, Finance and Membership.

Earning this top recognition did not happen by accident. It required a full team effort – Scouts, parents, unit leaders, district and council leaders, and staff – everyone contributing and doing their part to get the job done, and done well. We can, and should, take a moment to celebrate our work and achievement in receiving this honor.

The Scouting program is a journey, not a destination. We have just reached a significant milestone, but the journey continues on. What we do going forward will be the real test in our striving for excellence. Will we continue to be one of the top performing councils in the BSA, or will we fall back into the middle of the pack?

Let’s make 2016 a year to remember – a year that will be especially exciting and rewarding for our Scouts – a year that challenges us all to do our best. Together, we can and will make it happen!

Yours in Scouting,

Gordon Rubard
