Council Commissioner Update: March 23, 2022

The College of Commissioner Science is coming off a very successful event in Great Falls on March 19, 2022.  Initial remarks were delivered by Scout Executive Dirk Smith and lunchtime comments were provided by Terry Dutton, Director of Support Services.  Both of these gentlemen’s comments were much appreciated and set the mood for the day.

A number of folks earned various degrees including seven commissioners and – maybe even more importantly – nine Scouters who wanted to know how to better interact with their unit commissioners. I am grateful for everyone who participated either as staff, instructor or student for this event.

Going forward, the next big event is at the Montana Council Annual Convention in Helena on April 29 – May 1, 2022. (Click here to register). This is a great event to enjoy the successes from the past year and to honor some terrific Scouters in the Montana Council.  From there, things are getting really busy!

With (hopefully) COVID-19 behind us, keep in mind the International Scout Expo is in Great Falls on June 16 – 19, 2022, our own Commissioner Summit is at K-M on August 6, 2022, and all the opportunities to witness Scouts in action at the various Summer Camps.

It is now Spring – time to get outside and enjoy this Great State we call home.

Yours in Scouting,

Gary Ely
Montana Council Commissioner
