“Why We like Scouting!” Video: What We Like About Winter Scouting
Service project: Crew members help at the “Comfort food challenge” a fundraiser for Family Promise. Crew members cleaned and repaired nine duck boxes and over 30 birdhouses located around the Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir.
Members attended Scout Sunday church services and secured a Proclamation from the Mayor of East Helena, recognizing Scout Week.
Crew member hosted the Prickly Pear District’s Scout/Parent Dinner at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church.
Crew members dug and then slept in snow caves on Macdonald Pass and hiked Mount Ascension.
Crew members continued to promote their May 2nd Messengers of Peace project, “Scouts Trash The Trash Day,” which grew to over 300 Scout groups worldwide by the end of February. www.scoutstrashthetrashday.org

Troop 1936, Eureka and Whitefish
Scouts from Eureka and Whitefish created videos and combined them to make “Why We Like Scouting”
Service Project: Scouts participated in the world-famous Whitefish Winter Carnival Parade as the “Yeti Clean Up Patrol” making sure nothing was left behind on the streets by any Yeti or other animals.
Attended sponsoring organizations (Eureka Baptist) service on Scout Sunday.
Created a BSA Troop 1936 poster for a window display at Cabin 6 studios in Whitefish across from Sweet Peaks Ice Cream.
Performed a flag ceremony at the Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter Winter Warmer
Wrote a letter to the editor that appeared in the Whitefish Pilot thanking the community for its support.
Wrote requests for a proclamation from the following government officials. Whitefish Mayor, our three representatives in Washington DC and the Forest Service. An e-mail was received from the mayor and Sen. Steve Daines with thanks for the troop’s community service, a phone message from Sen. Jon Tester’s office, a letter from Rep. Greg Gianforte and a letter of congratulations from the Forest Service.
Patrol Leader Justice wore his uniform to Whitefish Middle School and was busy recruiting new members.

Service project: Our pack completed a Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, February 1, 2020, collecting over 600 pounds of food for the Three Forks Area Food Bank: https://www.threeforksvoice.com/story/2020/01/29/community/pack-3523-hosting-food-drive-saturday/479.html
On Sunday, February 2, 2020, our Scouts attended service at our charter organization, the Three Forks United Methodist Church, as well as other religious organizations in our area.

We secured a proclamation from a governmental official, recognizing February 8 as Boy Scouts of America Day.
On Monday, February 3, 2020, our Scouts wore uniforms to school in Three Forks and other areas.
Our anniversary month celebration concluded with an Indiana Jones/Jumanji themed Blue and Gold Celebration.

The Boy Scouts of America was founded on February 8, 1910. To celebrate, Montana Council offers an Anniversary Month Contest during the month of February.
Any Montana Council unit can earn a beautiful purple Honor Unit streamer for their unit flag pole by completing any TWO of the following eight activities during February:
1. Create a short (approximately 30 seconds) video “Why We like Scouting!”
2. Conduct a service project
3. Attend a religious service, wearing your BSA uniforms on Scout Sunday (February 9) or Scout Sabbath (February 7) or another Sunday in February, as determined by your faith organization
4. Create a BSA display in a business window
5. Perform a flag ceremony for a school, service group, governmental meeting, or care facility
6. Write a letter to the Editor. Thank your community for their support of Scouting and name a few of your unit’s service projects
7. Secure a Proclamation from a governmental official, recognizing February 8 as Boy Scouts of America Day
8. Wear your BSA uniforms to school one day
