The Holiday season is my favorite time of year.
The music, the lights, the parties, the joyful interactions with friends and family and the spirit of loving our fellow man seems to penetrate the soul just a little bit more readily.
I also think of the great anticipation of all the gifts given and received this time of year. When I was younger I couldn’t wait to see what gifts I would receive.
As I have grown older, the excitement of the gifts of toys, games and clothes have been replaced with a desire to give and receive gifts of time, helpfulness, kindness and making a difference.
These have really become the gifts I treasure to both give and receive.
To my dear Scouting family, Thank You! You give these gifts all year – making our youth, families and communities stronger. Your service makes the world a better place now and for decades to come.
Thank you for giving what I think is the most valuable gifts.
Yours in Scouting,
Don Bean
