That meeting culminated a six-week process, beginning with the identification of our Council strengths and the traits desired in a new Scout Executive.
BSA Human Relations took that data and generated a list of five eligible Scouting Professionals for our committee to consider.
The committee eliminated one of the candidates based on his resume and invited the other four to visit Great Falls for an interview.
The candidates came from Utah, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Texas.
The interviews were conducted last weekend and upon conclusion, the committee selected Don Bean – currently the Director of Development for the Great Salt Lake Council in Salt Lake City, UT – to become Montana Council’s next Scout Executive.
Don has been with the Boy Scouts for over 17 years, is a graduate of BYU and served in the Utah National Guard.
He is an Eagle Scout who enjoys hiking, mountain biking, sports, SCUBA and traveling.
Don and his wife, Louise, have 3 children.
In addition to serving in the Great Salt Lake Council, Don served from 2005-2008 in our Council as a District Director based in Billings.
He is expected to report here the last week in June in order to conduct a face-to-face turnover with Gordon Rubard before he retires.
Join us in congratulating Don as he joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Montana Council to deliver quality Scouting experience to the young people of the communities they serve.
