Value: Our Commitment

Recently, the National Boy Scouts of America announced a fee increase for registration in the program.  This change goes into effect for the 2020 season of Scouting.  The amount to register a child in the program in 2020 will be $60.  That equates to $5/month for our year-round program.

Nobody likes increases.  When the average Montana family lives on a strict budget, changes can be difficult.  As your Council, we understand that.  We work tirelessly to help provide the best program we possibly can.  The simple fact of the matter is that we all have increasing expenses.

While we cannot change the Registration fee, we can help in other ways.

The board of directors and staff of the Montana Council scrutinizes our budget, we look to save money on every front all while providing the best program that we possibly can.  We find, seek and sell donors on donations that help offset the costs of operating our program in the big sky state.  We are always looking to do a better job of delivering value to you.

All of that being said, we face the same kinds of increases on goods, foods, services, etc. that you do.  Our bills continually increase and yet we continually try to find ways to keep fees low.

(For reference, read this Nov. 2, 2019, story on “Market Watch” on how the National BSA registration cost is pretty modest compared to other after-school activities.)

You may not know that we charge less to go to our camps than it costs us to operate them.  We strive to keep our operating costs in check because we understand.  Because we care.

Will costs increase – yes – but not without a profound understanding of delivering value that is worth your investment.

So, as a volunteer, a parent, a staff member and a donor – rest assured that I get up every day, excited to participate in a program that makes our world better, one that teaches youth the kinds of values that I know we desperately need and most importantly knowing that we make a difference.

We are the Boy Scouts of America – We are strong and we will continue to provide the best possible program we can, with your financial resources in mind.

Sincerely,

Jory Dellinger
Deputy Scout Executive

P.S.  To all of our Veterans – a week from today is the day we stop and recognize you.  I want you to know that the members of the Boy Scouts of America recognize you EVERY day.  Thank you for your service to our Country and our Way of Life – God Bless
