The Montana Council lost a great Scouter last week in Randy Keith. His loss is deeply felt by the Montana Council and the Boy Scouts of America.
Randy volunteered for 35+ years at levels from unit to district to council. He was most proud of being Course Director for Wood Badge, earning his 4th bead, organizing and working the Bitterroot Rendezvous, and taking over 50 youths to the National Jamboree in 2017.
His passion was teaching leadership and survival skills, and his life epitomized the values of Scouting.
The Boy Scout slogan is “Be Prepared”, but we could never be prepared for the loss of Randy. The family has asked that donations be made to the Montana Council in his honor. Please keep Randy’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
We are looking for to a great summer at all of our properties this summer including K-M, Grizzly Base and our High Adventure Programs at MOHAB. John Brault has put together a great staff with some very exciting programs.
Thank you to the Executive Board for the decision to run the fourth week at K-M with 50 Scouts and Scouters and there is still room that week for more participants at our beautiful K-M Scout Ranch.
Wood Badge has 25 participants registered and the NYLT Course has 48 young people signed up, which is very exciting! There is still room for our wonderful Wood Badge Training course at K-M which takes place June 21-25.
I am looking forward to a great summer! Thank you again for all that you do!
Yours In Scouting,
Dirk Smith,
Scout Executive
