SE Corner: Into The New Year

Building On Our Successes, 2023 Will Be Outstanding For Scouting In Montana

Already a week into the new year and your council staff and volunteers are buzzing with energy, planning how to make 2023 another outstanding year of Scouting in Montana.

As we turn the page on the calendar, I first want to say thank you for being with us in 2022.

Last year was one of the most successful years in recent history. We grew membership for the first time in five years and we exceeded our fundraising goals, allowing us to invest more in membership growth and program development.

We provided significant service to our local communities and – above all – we had a great time at our camps, the International Exposition, camporees and outings.  All in the name of Character Development and Leadership.

I want to extend a note of gratitude to each of you for your unwavering commitment to the Montana Council. To all my colleagues, partners, volunteers, Scouts, parents and Team 315, may 2023 bring you 12 months of success, 52 weeks of laughter, 365 days of fun, 8760 hours of joy, 525,6000 minutes of luck, and 31,536,000 seconds of happiness.

Montana truly is one of the best places in the world to be a Scout.  The natural world we have to explore is second to none.  For all the unit outings, camping trips, hikes, paddles and climbs – way to go!  You are providing a lifetime of memories for the next generation. That is truly worthy of all of our support.

A couple of weeks ago, we used this newsletter to take a look back to celebrate some of our achievements. I said then and I’ll say it again now. We carry the momentum, weight and excitement of our successes into the new year. We do this to ensure that the youth in our program become their best by us providing our best.

Here’s to an incredible 2023. While I have no doubt it will have its challenges, I have even fewer doubts about our combined ability to overcome them.

Happy New Year from all of us at the Montana Council and Team 315 – Keep Calm and Scout On!
