Online Advancement

Here’s hoping you and your troop had a great Scouting summer, whatever your adventures have been!

Now, with summer camp and fall activities in the books and heading toward winter activities, I thought it would be a good time to remind folks about Troop Advancement again.   With all of the summertime activities, your youth should be in good position to advance in rank, along with receiving the merit badges that they have earned.

I hope you have your unit plugged in to the Internet Advancement portion of MyScouting, as this is really the best and easiest way to get your troop advancements recorded in a very timely manner. If not, please take the time to get acquainted with the process. If you currently don’t have your unit ID number for access to the Advancement portion of MyScouting, your District Executive will be able to get it for you.

Advancement for a troop is certainly one of the cornerstones of our program, and helps keep the youth interested in moving along the Scouting Trail as I’m sure you well know.

If you haven’t already gotten your summer advancements into the system, now is a great time to do so, just to help keep your troop rolling into the last part of the registration year. As part of that, I hope each of you has the opportunity to do three, if not four, non-eagle Courts of Honor each year. That level of recognition of advancement goes a long way in keeping youth involved and active in the program.

With that, if there is anything that I or our Council support team can do to make this an easier process for you, please let me know. Keeping our youth advancing and interested will keep them in the program longer and continue to make them better scouts, and ultimately better citizens.

Thanks for all your great service to the youth of Montana Council
