This past summer, K-M Scout Ranch and Camp Melita Island welcomed thousands of Scouts and dedicated volunteer leaders from Montana and beyond, offering them a season of unforgettable adventures. The 2024 camps were marked by stellar reviews praising the exceptional commitment of our staff. Through their unwavering dedication to service and growth, they taught essential Scouting skills and helped create lasting memories for every Scout who attended.
Here are a few words from 2024 camp directors Joh Brault and Ashley Jerome.
Here’s to the K-M Scout Ranch staff of 2024!
Thanks to the incredible program and support staff we had this summer, some 400 Scouts earned 1,301 Merit badges while attending our state-of-the-art camp. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and friendly service this summer. From welcoming Scouts from across the country – even as far as Saskatoon, Canada – to fostering a safe and exciting environment, our volunteers and staff crafted another unforgettable summer.
More Scouts participated in our ATV safety course than ever before thanks to Dan Moore and his exceptional volunteer instructors. A special shout-out to Area Directors Melissa, John, and Rudy for running safe and exciting aquatics, shooting sports, and climbing programs.
This was my tenth summer serving on staff at K-M and I will remember it as one of my favorites thanks to the staff!

Melita Island 2024 staff,
The impact that you all have made this summer is impossible to measure. This summer, 652 youth participants came to Melita Island with 212 adults from 52 units. With over 1,700 completed merit badges, the knowledge and experience you shared with Scouts is top-notch. Troops from 15 different councils and nine states joined us, not for the merit badges but for the memories.
This summer, you created memories, stories, and joy. Your customer service and growth mindset mentalities are unparalleled to any staff I have worked with over my 12 years on camp staff. You remembered the two most important words – safe and fun – and took them to heart. You took the learning points and made each day better than the previous one.

To our kitchen crew from College Fresh: Thank you for always going above and beyond to provide amazing food for anyone and everyone.
To our area directors: Thank you for the countless number of hours that you put in before camp as well as throughout the summer to ensure that our staff have great lessons that encourage them to focus on the experience. Thank you for your perseverance and willingness to go above and beyond.
To the rest of the admin team: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Many people don’t see the many meetings leading up to camp, the hours spent digging through requirements and playing Tetris with the schedules, or the manual labor it takes to get it ready.
Duane, Julie, Marty, and Ryan – thank you for taking your roles in stride and continuing to put Melita first. I couldn’t do any of it without you!
