SE Corner: 2022 Summer Camp Shout-Outs

Our Camp Staff Were Nothing Short Of Amazing

I want to take this opportunity to shout out our amazing camp staff and leaders. This year will go down as one of the most difficult in our history as it relates to running summer camp programs.

Like most businesses, hiring part-time, temporary staff is very, very difficult.  What our camp teams did with literally half of the staff necessary is nothing short of amazing.

As you read this, Camp Melita Island is operating its final week of resident camp – Libby, Ashley, Julie, Barb and Duane, as well as their area directors and staff, did an incredible job. Melita is difficult to run under the best of circumstances (think logistics of an island camp), and they do it all while concealing just how difficult things really were. Thank you for a great season – we appreciate you.

K-M Scout Ranch finished its season in great shape. A shout out to John, Grace, Tanner, Madie and Nick, as well as the entire camp staff. This team made it look easy. The compliments we have received on your behalf are truly awesome. Thank you for running a first-class operation in the heart of Big Sky Country.

Montana Outdoor High Adventure Base (MOHAB) once again set the bar on what a high-adventure camp can be. To Thomas, Luke and staff, thank you for all your attention to detail and your professionalism. Most councils simply could not do what you do. A pinnacle experience in Scouting. Thanks to our friends at the Boone and Crockett Club as well – you are an incredible partner in this one-of-a-kind experience.

On behalf of the entire staff and board of directors, a most special thank you to all of you who took the time to bring Scouts to camp. The difference you make in young people’s lives is truly extraordinary. Scouting simply wouldn’t work without you.

So here’s to a great summer, despite the challenges – and more specifically to EVERYONE that makes camp possible.

It’s a great day to be a Scout in Montana,

Jory Dellinger
