SE Corner: Fall Recognitions

Thank you to Tina O’Donnell and the Mountain Valley District for inviting me to attend their virtual district meeting and roundtable. It is greatly appreciated, and I enjoyed it. Thank you to all our Districts that have invited Deputy Scout Executive Jory Dellenger and me to attend their meetings.

Thank you to all of the Scouts and Scouters who sold popcorn! I had the opportunity to buy popcorn from a couple of Scouts. Again, thank you to Michelle Ferguson (Office Manager/Executive Assistant) for your leadership on the sale and to Kirsten Steele (Program Assistant) for her support. In these challenging times, we still had a successful sale and we sold more popcorn than last year! If you missed the door-to-door sales, you can still buy popcorn online through Nov. 22 and support the Scouting youth in your neighborhood. Visit our popcorn page for more information.

All Scouters are doing an excellent job recruiting new Scouts into our program. Keep up the great work. Every new Scout matters. All of us have the opportunity to change a young person’s life.

I wanted to publicly thank Julie Evans for her outstanding work in Mountain Valley District and the Development Area for the council. Please join me in congratulating her on her promotion to serve as District Director for Aloha Council, Hawaii. We hate to lose Julie, but this is a great opportunity in our Scouting organization for her. She will still be with us until January, but she will be missed very much. Mahalo, Julie.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I have a lot to be thankful for, including my family and the opportunity to live in our beautiful state. I am also thankful to work with such an outstanding staff, our very dedicated Council President, Greg Beach and Council Commissioner, Gary Ely, our very engaged Council Board and all of our wonderful volunteers.

Thank you for all you do for Scouting!

Let’s continue to grow in 2021!

Yours in Scouting,

Dirk Smith
Scout Executive
