Auction April 10, 2021: Supporting Montana Scouting

We are excited to continue our partnership with with North American Auction Co. in Bozeman and participate in this upcoming online auction.

Over this past year, restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic forced districts and units to cancel most of their fundraising events. We assure you, Scouting is going strong during this time and although our revenue stream is altered, the necessity to fund our programming has not changed.

We have a lot of ground to make up in 2021 and we sincerely thank each of you who have donated good and for North American Auction Co. to help us reach our fundraising goals.

Here are some of the lots that will directly benefit the Montana Council and Scouting in the state. Stay tuned for future auctions as well.


Lot #628: Northland Laminated Hickory Skis c. 1929-1934

Estimate: 150.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this Northland laminated hickory skis, circa 1929-1934. Northland Ski Manufacturing Company was incorporated in 1912 by Ole S. Ellevold, former foreman of the Strand Ski Company. The skis are constructed of straight laminated hickory without steel edges, along with downhill slalom ridges, seen in front of the bindings and behind. They are titled as a slalom ski on the underside of the toe of the skis. The bindings show stock manufacturing. The condition of this pair of skis is good, with some scratches and marks consistent with wear and usage. The skis need to be re-laminated. The bindings show some oxidation to the heel plates. The measurements of these skis are 77″ x 5″, with the overall measurements of the bindings from toe to heel being 14″.

Lot #629: Montana 100 Years of Boy Scouting Camporee Poster

Estimate: 100.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this framed Montana Council statewide Camporee advertising poster announcing the celebration of 100 years of Boy Scouting in Montana. It shows a photo of three young boy scouts outside of a large camp, equipped for adventure in the mountains of Montana. The bottom right of the photo is marked “dmazanec”, presumably the photographer’s name. The bottom of the poster shows the details of the event and 100 years of scouting emblems. This poster is expertly framed in a wood frame by the Genesis Frame Shop in Helena, MT. It measures 15.5” x 19” and the visible poster measures 12.5” x 15.5”.

Lot #648: B. Coppock Intaglio “Frenchtown Depot” Mont. 27/50

Estimate: 200.00 – 400.00 USD

For your consideration is a framed original, limited edition intaglio print of “The Frenchtown Depot” west of Missoula, Montana by Barbara Coppock, 1988. This piece is number 27/50 and shows a detailed miniature etching of the Frenchtown Depot, which was a Milwaukee Road railroad town. It shows the details of the depot’s wooden architecture, including the benches and a cart next to the building. The railroad tracks are shown out front of the depot. Barbara Coppock and her late husband, Bill, raised their family in Montana, where she would buck bales and tend the orchard by day and work on art by night while everyone was in bed. She currently works out of her Clarkston, WA studio. It shows the artist’s signature, title, and edition number below the etching, as well as the artist certificate of work on the back of the frame. This piece is framed in a beautiful wood frame measuring 7.5” x 8.5”; the visible art measures 3” x 4”.

Lot #664: Northland Laminated Hickory Skis c. Post 1940s

Estimate: 150.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this pair of Northland laminated hickory skis, circa post 1940’s. Northland Ski Manufacturing Company was incorporated in 1912 by Ole S. Ellevold, former foreman of the Strand Ski Company. The skis show laminated hickory construction and show the company’s logo towards the heel and the toe of the skis. The bindings are Kandahar Hvam bindings and show functional condition. The condition of these skis is fair, with wear consistent with usage and age and in need of tuning; the edges also shown a heavy oxidation. The measurements of these skis are 65″ x 3 1/2″, and the binding length measurements are 10 1/2″.

Lot #665: BSA Merit Badge Handbooks & Leadership Manuals

Estimate: 100.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration are these BSA Merit Badge Series handbooks and leadership manuals, circa 1944-1977. There are 15 Merit Badge Series handbooks in this collection, two pertaining to the Explorer membership guide, four pertaining to Patrol and Troop Leadership, with the last showing the BSA terms and usage. The condition of these field manuals and merit handbooks is fair, with wear consistent with usage and age; the Merit Badge Series handbooks have the most wear from usage. The measurements of these manuals range from 8″ x 5 1/2″ to 8″ x 5 1/4″.

Lot #669: Framed Upland & Waterfowl Theme Artwork c. 1980s

Estimate: 150.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this pair of framed artwork of upland birds and waterfowl, called Franklin Gulls, circa 1980’s. The first of the pair is an ink and pen drawing of pheasant with lovely texturing. The artist’s signature can be seen in the bottom right hand corner, along with the date of the rendition (1981 and #1 rendition). The second is a watercolor picture of three Franklin Gulls sitting in the water; the artist’s name is Kim Norby, a Montana artist from Willow Creek, Montana. The water color is dated 1984. The condition of these pieces of artwork is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of the framed pen and ink artwork are 11 3/4″ x 14 3/4″ and the visible art measures 7 1/4″ x 9 1/4″. The framed water color measures 9 1/4″ x 13 1/4″ and the visible art measures 3 3/4″ x 7 3/4″.

Lot #673: Head ‘Master’ Expert Recreational Skis c. 1960’s

Estimate: 100.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this pair of Head Skis called Master’s sizes 195 x 27962, circa 1960’s. The pair shows black coloration to the laminated metal over edge-plywood core construction, with blue etching to the identifying markers on the top side of the skis. The inscription shows Stan Eubanks, Denver and made in the U.S.A. The condition of these skis is fair, with some dings consistent with age and wear from usage. The edges need to be sharpened and treated due to a slight oxidation. The measurements of these skis are 77″ x 3″, with the binding placement measuring 11″ form heel to toe placement.

Lot #701: Wooden Eskimo Sled with Red Bottom

Description: Included in this lot is a fantastic wooden sled made by Eskimo. This piece is a small wooden sled with pine construction. Its Eskimo graphic is intact and it has red metal runners with a red metal top. It is in good condition. It measures 32″ long by 21″ at the steering bar and 5 1/2″ deep.

Lot #727: Slalom Pre-Laminated Shaped Hickory Ski Blanks

Estimate: 100.00 – 300.00 USD

Description: For your consideration is this pair of slalom, pre laminated, shaped hickory ski blanks. There are two blanks in this lot, showing the wood rough shaped and ready to be prepped to be laminated. The tips are slightly flared and there are slalom ridges shown in front and behind the binding mounting block. The skis are made from hickory. The condition of these ski blanks is fair, showing minor blemishes, but they are ready to be laminated and have the binding mounted. The measurements of these skis are 72″ x 3 1/2″, and the binding mounting block measures 14″.
